Hats Off to My Bombay !!!!

    Dear Terrorist,

Even if you are not reading this we don't care. Time and again you tried to disturb us and disrupt our life - killing innocent civilians by planting bombs in Important Buildings, trains, buses and cars. You have tried hard to bring death and destruction, cause panic and fear and create communal disharmony but everytime you were disgustingly unsuccessful. Do you know how we pass our life in Mumbai? How much it takes for us to earn that single rupee? If you wanted to give us a shock then we are sorry to say that you failed miserably in your ulterior motives. Better look elsewhere, not here.

We are not Hindus and Muslims or Gujaratis or Marathis or Punjabis or Bengaliies nor do we distinguish ourselves as owners or workers, govt.employees or private employees. WE ARE MUMBAIKERS (Bombay-ites, if you like). We will not allow you to disrupt our life like this. On the last few occasions when you struck (including the 7 deadly blasts in a single day killing over 250 people and injuring 500+ in 1993), we went to work next
day in full strength. This time we cleared everything within a few hours and were back to normal - the vendors placing their next order, businessmen finalizing the next deals and the office workers rushing to catch the next train. (Yes the same train you targeted)

Fathom this: Within 3 hours of the blasts, long queues of blood donating volunteers were seen outside various hospitals, where most of the injured were admitted. By
12 midnight, the hospital had to issue a notification that blood banks were full and they didn't require any more blood. The next day, attendance at schools and office was close to 100%, trains & buses were packed to the brim, and the crowds were back.

The city has simply dusted itself off and moved one - perhaps with greater vigour.

We are Bombayites and we live like brothers in times like this----- N e v e r  L o s i n g  H o p e  :) So, do not dare to threaten us with your crackers. The spirit of Mumbai is very strong and can not be harmed.

    With Love,
From the Proud People of Mumbai (

    Self Appraisal- By Joyson

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and

pulled it over to the telephone.

He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the buttons on the

phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits.

The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

The boy asked, "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?

The woman replied, "I already have someone to cut my lawn."

"Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who

cuts your lawn now." replied boy.

The woman responded that she was very satisfied with the person who

    was presently cutting her lawn.

The little boy found more perseverance and offered, "Lady, I'll even

sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the

prettiest lawn in all of North Palm beach, Florida."

Again the woman answered in the negative. With a smile on his face,

the little boy replaced the receiver.

The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the

    boy and said,

"Son... I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would

like to offer you a job."

    The little boy replied,

"No thanks, I was just checking my performance and the job I already have.

I am the one who is working for that lady, I was talking to."

    Aashaayen ...
    Aashaayen ...
Kutch paane ki ho aas aas
Kutch armaan ho jo khaas khaas
    Aashaayen ...
Har koshish mein ho waar waar
Kare dariyao ko tu aar paar
    Aashaayen ...
    Toofano ko chir ke
    Manzilo ko chin le

    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi

    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi

    o ho o...

    Udd jaaye leke khushi
    Apne sand tujhko waha
    Jannat se mulawat ho
    Puri ho teri har dua
    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi)

    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi

    Aashaayen ...
    Gujre aaisi har raat raat
    Ho khwaahisho se baat baat
    Aashaayen ...
    Lekar suraj se aag aag
    Aaaye ja apne raag raag
    Aashaayen ...
    Kutch aaisa karke dikha
    Khud khush ho jaaye Khuda

    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi
    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi

    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi

    o ho o...

Also many of you may have not heard the slow version of this song……

But it’s also very optimistic Indeed!!

    Teri woh raftaar ho
Roke se bhi tu na ruke
    Haasil kar aaisa shikhar
    Parbat ki bhi nazrein uthe
    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi

    Aashaayen khile dil ki
    Ummeedein hase dil ki
    Ab mushkil nahi kutch bhi
    Nahi kutch bhi

    Aashaayen....

    Aashaayen....

    Aashaayen

    According to Aerodynamic Laws,

    The bumblebee cannot fly.

Its body weight is not the right proportion to its wingspan.

Ignoring these laws, the bee flies anyway!

How often we wish for another chance

    To make a fresh beginning.

A chance to blot out our mistakes

    And change failure into winning.

It does not take a special time

    To make a brand-new start,

It only takes the deep desire

To try with all our heart.

    To live a little better,

    To always be forgiving.

    To add a little sunshine,

In a world for which we’re living.

    Never give up in despair

    Nor think you are through,

    For there’s always a tomorrow,

    A chance to start anew.

    Believe In Yourself, Friend!

    V A L U E

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rupee 500 note.
In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this Rupee 500 note?".
    Hands started going up.

He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you but first let me do this.".
He proceeded to crumple the note up.
He then asked, "Who still wants it?".
Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?".

And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.

He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson.
No matter what I did to the money, you still
wanted it because it did not decrease in value.

It was still worth Rupee 500/-.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.

We feel as though we are worthless.

But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.

You are special, don't ever forget it!

Never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams.

"VALUE HAS A VALUE ONLY IF ITS VALUE IS VALUED BY YOU"

A Person Is Happy As Long As He Choose To Be Happy.

    God’s Own Land : Kerala

    God’s Own Land : Kerala

Continuing with the Ego-spirit in me….

Today I shall be writing about my Beautiful Native Land Kerala- The very place where Ashwathy the Great was born to mark this place as an eventful place in the books of History!! HeE hee

Alryt, alryt!! Was dat too much?

Hhmm…. Sorry no regrets. U just hv to bear with all the Ego.

Though born in Trichur district (the cultural capital) of Kerala, my upbringing since the age of 7 months was in Bombay (And ya, very soon, one of my blog article’s gonna be about this Joyous Indian City of Hope- Mumbai).

Its been say about 14 years that I have been to Kerala but the memories of visiting my native during school vacations, the train journey and the joyous moments shared there with cousins, relatives, Grandparents—oh how much I miss them all!!

So Kerala-this year definitely Ashwathy will be back. K?

Now lemme take the pleasure of introducing U, all of my friends, to the point of focus…

Kerala located at the Southern most tip of India, was formed in the year 1956. It’s a state comprising of Malayalam speaking population, also known to be the Indian state with the highest literacy rate amongst its counterparts. Its other unique claim to fame includes-- the only Indian state where the Female ratio sur-compassed the Male ratio. Women in Kerala enjoy a high social status, thanks- perhaps to its historic matrilineal system esp. in the Nair caste.

If you speak English, you won't have any problem in Kerala. Many people speak Hindi and Tamil also. As the subject of quite a lot of jokes, you may find the pronunciation a bit hilarious. (How many of won’t swear for that by the musical line “De Mallayaleee gurl , SIMBLY, crossed de rooad anDh she wend to de Kollleage to learrn Biolloogee!”

(For those who read dat for the first time, it meant to be read as ‘The malayali girl, simply crossed the road, and she went to the college to learn biology”

Our traditional dress is Mundu for men and a slightly longer version of the same for women (FYI, there’s a full length snap of me wearing the Mallu (Malayali) sari in the photo section towards the right of this page)

Now, why does Kerala have the sobriquet ‘God’s Own Land’?

Well.. Because it’s a place of awesome picturesque beauty. Not to forget--- Kerala means the land of coconuts also. And Oh boy! We do have coconuts, arecanuts, cashew nuts and also nuts like me in abundance! JJ

Now the next of few lines are Copy-Pasted for your info purpose, hee, if U don’t mind…

From the majestic heights of the Western Ghats the land of Kerala undulates westward presenting a vista of silent valleys clothed in the richest green. Among the many rivers that glide across the plains to merge their waters with the Arabian Sea, the more important are the Periyar, the Pamba and the Bharathapuzha. The elegant waterfalls at Athirampally near Trichur are a popular tourist spot. Along the coast, sand dunes shelter a linked chain of LAGOONS and BACKWATERS, the still waters of which are studded with sea-gulls and country canoes plying at a snails pace. The silence of the clear skies is broken only by the coos of koels, a type of cuckoo, and the frequent flutter of cranes perched on the embankments. The highest peak of peninsular India Annai Mudi is located in this state. The scenic Thekkady Wild Life Sanctuary is a popular vacation destination for nature lovers.

The climate is equable and varies little from season to season. The temperature normally ranges from 80 to 90 F in the plains but drops to about 70 F in the highlands. The state gets its due share of both the southwest as well as the northeast monsoons, and the rainfall is heavy, averaging around 118 inches annually.

Alright, now adding to your woes the mike’s back in my hand, Hee

Following is a collection of Pics of the stunning land I have been boasting about, for your eyes only. Trust me you all are gonna like it.

These include the snaps of Boat races, lagoons/backwaters, the boat houses, a Kath kali artist, Aithrampilly Waterfalls (From my very own Trichur), The Ananthapura Lake Temple (Of 9th Century!!!)

So njoy through theses pics n ya, please also check out my upcoming blog abt Mumbai, coming soon in your nearest n Dearest MSN space :)

    Until then,

    Keep Smiling Always

    N don't Miss me
